Introduction
The rapid growth of the global tourism industry highlights the necessity of inclusivity. People with disabilities still face challenges such as weak infrastructure and lack of awareness (Domínguez Vila et al., 2015). Physical barriers, biases, and inconsistent information exclude them, damaging their travel experience. Many destinations view accessibility as an afterthought, leading to outdated facilities. This report explores how to improve destination infrastructure and services through accessible design and intelligent technology to enhance the travel feasibility and experience of disabled tourists.

The foundation of accessible tourism
Accessible design provides a key foundation for inclusive travel. Simple but effective features such as ramps, wider entrances, tactile paving, clear signage, and accessible toilets enable people with disabilities to travel independently and with dignity (Darcy and Dickson, 2009). If cities apply universal design principles in early planning, it can not only eliminate barriers for wheelchair users and people with limited mobility, but also for families with strollers, elderly tourists, and temporarily injured individuals. The example of Vienna, which includes low floor public transportation, tactile paving, and multi-sensor emergency prompts, demonstrates how various accessibility facilities can improve practicality and satisfaction.

In addition to physical modifications, intelligent technology also creates new opportunities for autonomy and inclusion.The intelligent accessible destination model combines ICT with accessibility standards, providing personalized navigation, real-time updates, and emergency support through mobile applications (Lin et al., 2022). In the Murcia region of Spain, an application with offline functionality and user-friendly interface can help people with limited mobility plan their travels. Artificial intelligence is also used to analyze data and customize tourism services to better meet the needs of people with disabilities.

The challenge of accessible tourism
Three main obstacles make it harder to become a fully accessible destination. Firstly, the lack of unified accessibility standards leads to uneven regulations and infrastructure quality. Comparative studies between Spain and Australia have shown that inconsistent laws and outdated facilities make it difficult for tourists to anticipate the level of service at their destination, thereby reducing confidence and demand (Domínguez Vila et al., 2015). Secondly, insufficient public awareness and persistent social biases often lead to inadequate employee training and unfriendly service interactions. When reception lack disability awareness, they may deny or offer inadequate assistance, increasing feelings of exclusion. Thirdly, many attractions and accommodation facilities are only nominally “accessible”: the number of accessible rooms available is limited, the bathroom design is unreasonable, and there is a lack of sensory friendly functionality. This forces disabled tourists to overly rely on others, which reduces their independence and overall satisfaction.

Recommendation for Inclusive Infrastructure
To overcome these barriers, governments and industry organizations should collaborate to establish consistent accessibility standards, including adjustments to building codes, traffic regulations, and travel permits. Destination management organizations must ensure mandatory disability awareness training for all tourism staff, covering communication, assistive devices, and bias reduction. Technical developers should involve people with disabilities in every stage of product development, ensuring that the results truly meet user needs. Government and private company partnerships can work together to invest in improving heritage sites and public spaces. Using inclusive design from the beginning can help avoid expensive changes in the future.

Destinations should establish continuous feedback mechanisms, such as accessibility ratings on booking platforms and reviews of infrastructure and service. An annual accessibility review with an open data dashboard increases transparency and accountability. Certification programs or tax incentives can reward good practices, signaling that accessibility is both a social responsibility and a competitive advantage.

Conclusion
Accessible tourism is not only a moral responsibility but also a strategic opportunity to expand markets and strengthen the resilience of destinations. Tourism providers can ensure that all travelers have equal, respectful, and meaningful experiences by combining inclusive design and smart technologies within a clear set of rules and involving people with disabilities in the design process. Darcy and Dickson (2009), Domínguez Vila et al. (2015), and Lin et al. (2022) outline a clear direction: implementing universal design, unified standards, and utilizing intelligent technology to transform the tourism environment into a truly inclusive space.

This paper provides an insightful overview of how destination infrastructure and services can be improved through accessible design and the use of intelligent technology in order to enhance the feasibility of travel and the experience of disabled tourists.

The author successfully highlights the importance of accessible design using relevant literature to state effective ways in which accessible infrastructure can be incorporated into a design, such as ramps and wider entrances, to enhance the people with disability’s ability to travel independently and with dignity. Through the use of the example of incorporating low floor public transportation in Vienna, the author is able to express the success of these practices. To add further to this paper, the accessible design for people with invisible disabilities could have also been included as many people with invisible disabilities report unequal opportunity and have challenges accessing services and infrastructure they may need (Kelly and Mutebi, 2023).

The paper highlights that in addition to physical modifications, intelligent technology can also create new opportunities for inclusion. A strength is that the author has included a real-life example, using the case of the Murcia region of Spain. However, the author does not consider the challenges faced through the use of technology such as people with certain cognitive disabilities finding technology challenging and overwhelming to use (Gregor et al, 2005). The paper could have further elaborated using a critical analysis to highlight the challenges as well as the benefits for the incorporation of intelligent technology.

Clear recommendations have been given for inclusive infrastructure including the need for collaboration between governments and organisations for more consistent accessibility standards and mandatory staff training. The overall paper provides a great insight into the use of intelligent technology and accessible design whilst addressing the barriers facing accessible tourism. However, a more extensive overview could be given through research into how invisible disabilities can be provided throughout the accessible design process and the ways in which incorporating intelligent technologies can also cause challenges for disability as well as benefits.

The article excels in clarifying the research context and real-world issues. The introductory section begins by identifying the barriers faced by people with disabilities in tourism, such as poor infrastructure, social prejudice, and lack of information transparency, which provides a sound basis for the rest of the article. The article enhances the academic and authoritative nature of the discourse by citing research from scholars such as Domínguez Vila et al. (2015) and Darcy and Dickson (2009).

From a critical point of view, the paper is slightly optimistic about the use of “smart technologies”. Although the use of ICT and AI is mentioned, there is a lack of reflection on their potential problems. For example, the spread of smart tourism applications still faces a digital divide in reality, especially for older or financially limited people with disabilities, who may find it difficult to access or operate the relevant devices. In summary, the paper provides a good theoretical framework and initial strategy for accessible tourism, emphasises the importance of integrating design and technology, and demonstrates good policy sensitivity. However, further deepening is needed in terms of critical analysis of technology application, operability of policy recommendations, and plurality of case horizons. Future research may consider expanding from the perspectives of cross-cultural comparison, user participation enhancement, and technology ethics, so as to promote the truly inclusive development of global tourism.
